Position Title: Chocolatier / Pastry Chef/Baker
Job Description: We are hiring a full-time Chocolatier/Pastry Chef/Baker to join our team. We are looking for a someone who is detail-oriented, learns quickly, hard-working, looking for new challenges and has a passion for working with chocolate, viennoiserie and pastry. As an artisan company we produce everything in small batches, by hand to the highest standard using the best ingredients and techniques that our customers have come to expect from William Dean Chocolates.
Job Type: Full-time
Position Schedule: Monday-Friday; some Saturdays – Hours will range between 6:30 AM & 6:30 PM
Responsibilities and duties include but are not limited to the following:
- Preparation of ganaches, viennoiserie, macarons and pastries
- Complete daily production goals
- Quality control on all items in preparation, presentation, and packaging
- Maintaining organization
- Maintaining quality level of kitchen and store cleanliness
- Flexible with hours and ability to work extra hours during holidays (We are closed New Year’s Day, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day.)
- Receive and put away deliveries
Qualifications & Requirements – Includes but are not limited to the following:
- Ability to work well with others
- Ability to perform repetitive tasks, stand for 6-8 hours, move quickly and lift heavy objects up to and including 40 pounds.
- Working effectively while under pressure and time constraints
- Good interpersonal communication skills
- Have a passion for what you do
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time
- Artisan chocolate making, tempering, making ganaches, caramels, pralines
- Excellent customer service skills
- Ability to pan (chocolate coat) various centers and understand the science and art that goes into panning and basic confectionery
- ServSafe food certification
What to expect:
- Typically work Monday-Friday with one weekend day
- Off-season hours 40 per week/ busy season hours 50-60 per week
- Fast-paced kitchen environment
Experience:
- Pastry Chef, Baker or Chocolatier: 1 year (Recommended but will consider recent Pastry School graduates)
- Customer Service: 1 Year (Preferred)

Pay: $15.00 - $20.00 per hour
