CAFETERIA HELPER
DESCRIPTION:
A William E. Norris School Cafeteria Helper is responsible for assisting the Cook, Head Cook, and Food Service Manager with maintaining the school’s kitchen facilities. This includes but is not limited to, cleanliness and operating excellence to provide full support of the educational program at all times.
SUPERVISION:
Works under the supervision of the Food Service Manager.
Evaluated yearly by the Food Service Manager or designee.
JOB ENVIRONMENT:
The position requires food preparation as well as customer service, cashiering, food safety and sanitation.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assisting with food layout according to the menu
Ensuring service areas and steam tables ready for daily use
Helping with inventory responsibilities
Assisting in daily clean up of kitchen area and equipment
Serving lunch
Cashiering and daily deposit as needed
Familiarity with daily rosters and production records
Other duties as required, including but not limited to, filling in for cook.
GENERAL EXPERIENCE:
Works independently and with general guidance from the Cook, Head Cook, and Food Service Manager
Maintains cooperative relationships with students, staff, and co-workers
Manages time to accomplish multiple tasks and meet deadlines
Communicates effectively both orally and in writing
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Has a high school diploma or equivalent;
Has experience in cafeteria work preferred, but not required;
Has the ability to work well with others to perform cafeteria work and responsibilities;
Has the ability to comprehend and follow both verbal and written directions related to assignments and duties; and
Other qualifications as deemed to be required by the school district.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Good general health.
Alert, physically assertive, and mobile at all times.
Lift, push, or pull 50 pounds as required;
Mobility is required to walk, stand, stoop regularly, reach, bend, and occasionally run.
