Position Summary
Assistant Dean for Assessment, Accreditation, and Accountability is a full-time appointment with the School of Education. The Assistant Dean reports to the Senior Associate Dean for Academic Programs in the School of Education.
The individual in this position fills a critical need by directing all efforts related to assessment, accreditation (e.g., SACSCOC, CAEP, CACREP, NASP), and accountability. This position coordinates all development and support for the School of Education’s Assessment/Accreditation Systems. The Assistant Dean collaborates with department chairs, faculty, staff and stakeholders to provide leadership in assessment, accreditation, and continuous improvement efforts. In addition, this position is responsible for ensuring School of Education compliance with federal, state and local reporting requirements.
This individual is responsible for developing assessment strategies, reports, instrumentation and communications to monitor the performance of the School of Education. The position supports the SOE assessment system. The Assistant Dean is proficient in identifying business and technical issues and in developing, debugging, and deploying systemic solutions quickly and efficiently.
The Assistant Dean is also responsible for the successful implementation of a procedural and technical system that collects and analyzes data regarding applicants, candidates and graduates, as well as overall School of Education and unit operations. The Assistant Dean will lead efforts to organize, translate, and facilitate data collection for various external governmental accreditation and licensure agencies and other constituent groups, facilitate the collection and recording of assessment data related to the School’s programs, manage exit surveys and databases, prepare reports and disseminate information on assessment findings, work with faculty and staff to ensure routine entry of performance information on students, and collaborate with faculty and staff to aggregate and disaggregate data on students’ performance on a regular basis.
The Assistant Dean will facilitate and participate in regular meetings with the faculty and staff of the School of Education and will work collaboratively with Information Technology, and the Office of Institutional Accreditation and Effectiveness (IAE) to coordinate all assessment and accreditation efforts. In addition, the Assistant Dean will serve on various committees as designated by the Associate Dean.
Conditions of Employment
This position requires administrative access to the university’s information systems and/or sensitive College data. The incumbent is expected to be aware of and adhere to the Information Security policies of the university as well as all applicable federal, state, and local laws. Additionally, the incumbent is expected to follow information security best practices applicable to their job area and to pursue information security training and awareness opportunities when possible.

Required Qualifications
- Master’s degree in a field related to assessment and data management (e.g., computer science, education, statistics) or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience in education at the K-12 or college level, proficiency with education performance assessment and measurement, and experience in constructing and validating assessment instruments and scoring rubrics.
- Strong service orientation, ability to interact effectively and work productively with others, ability to set and adjust priorities, work under pressure, be thorough and accurate, follow tasks through to completion, meet deadlines, and work independently.
- Knowledge of accreditation policies and procedures.
- Knowledge of database design principles.
- Significant experience working with data collection technologies, including web and database programming tools in a relational database environment.
- Experience developing policies and procedures.
- Experience implementing and communicating new policies and procedures.
- Experience implementing quality assurance systems.
- Experience with LiveText or similar data collection systems.
- Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills (written and oral, formal and informal).
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Knowledge of licensure and licensure regulations.
Preferred Qualifications
- Demonstrated proficiency with LiveText (or similar systems), Blackboard, Banner, HTML, Oracle, SQL, and/or Cascade (CMS).
- Doctoral degree in education that includes courses in the areas of statistics, psychometrics, and research design.
- Experience implementing policies and procedures based on assessment data designed to improve outcomes.
- Experience utilizing quality assurance methodologies including TQM, Quality Circles, and Root Cause Analysis.
- Experience with licensure processes and procedures.
