Position Summary
The Center for Legal & Court Technology (CLCT) at William & Mary Law School is a joint initiative of the Law School and the National Center for State Courts. CLCT’s fundamental mission is to improve the administration of justice through appropriate technology, traditionally emphasizing court and courtroom technology. CLCT has a long-lasting commitment to courts in the United States and elsewhere. In particular, it is responsible for the operation and management of the CLCT Court Affiliates Program. Launched in the 1990’s, this program assists member state, federal, native-American, and non-U.S. courts in using technology to improve the administration of justice.
The Assistant Director for Court Affiliates and Ethics for the William & Mary Law School’s Center for Legal and Court Technology (CLCT) is the principal operational and administrative officer supporting the work of the Center and providing professional assistance to the Director of CLCT.
Under the direction of the CLCT Director and Administrator supervise, support, and seek to enlarge the CLCT Court Affiliates in the United States and other nations;
The Assistant Director for Court Affiliates and Ethics for the William & Mary Law School’s Center for Legal and Court Technology (CLCT) is the principal operational and administrative officer supporting the work of the Center and providing professional assistance to the Director of CLCT.
Under the direction of the CLCT Director and Administrator supervise, support, and seek to enlarge the CLCT Court Affiliates in the United States and other nations;
Supervise CLCT (student) Fellows assigned to Court Affiliate-related duties;
Conduct research into and monitor professional ethics developments for lawyers and judges with respect to technology and, especially, Artificial Intelligence;
Conditions of Employment
- This position is supported by funding that is not guaranteed after the first year.
- Some work may be remote with the approval of the CLCT Director.
- Attendance at the Court Affiliates annual conference, often hosted by a Court Affiliate may be required along with incidental travel.
- This is a non-exempt position, eligible to receive overtime in accordance with the Fair Labor Standards Act. This position may be subject to overtime during high peak times, etc. as directed and approved by the supervisor.
- All hourly employees are subject to the limitations of the Virginia Manpower Control Program and total hours worked may not exceed, on average, 29 hours per week, over the course of a twelve month period beginning May 1 each year.

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and substantial experience as a paralegal;
- Extroverted personality with the ability to meaningfully communicate with diverse people;
- Excellent language skills, written and oral;
- Substantial experience dealing with people;
- Demonstrated ability to speak to groups composed of people with different backgrounds and functions;
- Demonstrated ability to manage or work with a wide variety of people and tasks;
- Experience using Microsoft Office or its equivalents;
- Knowledge of and interest in traditional ethical concerns and guidance as well as the rules of professional ethics for lawyers.
Preferred Qualifications
- JD with some practical experience
- Substantial experience in ongoing dealing with and support of people in an organization

Up to $20.00 per hour, commensurate with experience
