Position Summary
William & Mary’s Department of Psychology invites qualified applications for the part-time hourly position of Program Assistant whose efforts will support the day-to-day programmatic and administrative needs of the department chair, staff, faculty, and undergraduate students. Primary responsibilities include website maintenance, monitoring office supply and equipment inventory, assisting with communications and outreach to students and alumni, and providing excellent customer service support.
Conditions of Employment
- This is an hourly position authorized for a max of 15 hours/week and does not include employee benefits.
- All hourly employees are subject to the limitations of the Virginia Manpower Control Program and total hours worked may not exceed, on average, 29 hours per week, over the course of a twelve month period beginning May 1 each year. This position is capped at 15 hours per week.
- Satisfactory completion of a pre-employment background check is required.
- Work schedule is within regular business hours as determined by the chair. Occasional evening and weekend work is required. i.e., during graduation, open house, homecoming, orientation, career nights, etc.

Required Qualifications
- High school diploma oran equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
- Familiarity of general office practices and procedures.
- Demonstrated proficiency in computer skills to include Internet browsers and Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, and disseminate information effectively with a diverse population of faculty, staff, and students.
- Ability to learn website technology platforms, i.e., Cascade, Blackboard, group calendars, listservs, etc.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with general office practices and procedures.
- Experience maintaining web pages, group calendars, and/or listservs.
- Experience working in a higher education environment.
