Purpose of Department:
The Office of Admissions at William Peace University provides information to high school students and transfer students who are interested in pursuing a bachelor’s degree at WPU. William Peace University actively seeks students who demonstrate academic talent, a strong college preparatory curriculum, and personal integrity.

Summary of Position:
The Assistant Director of Transfer Admissions leads all recruitment and enrollment efforts for traditional on-campus transfer students. This position is responsible for conducting comprehensive outreach to transfer counselors at North Carolina Community Colleges and prospective students, emphasizing establishing strong relationships and maintaining a visible physical presence at Wake Technical Community College. The role involves presenting on-campus and online program options during all recruitment communications while guiding applicants interested in on-campus enrollment through the entire application process from initial inquiry to confirmed enrollment. A critical aspect of this position is developing deep expertise in Peace’s curriculum, enabling the Assistant Director to provide unofficial transfer credit evaluations during the recruitment or enrollment processes, and facilitating a smooth and informative transition for potential transfer students.

Essential duties and responsibilities:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Reporting to the Director of Admissions, the individual holding this position is responsible for, but not limited to, the following duties:
Transfer Recruitment:
  • Recruits prospective students through traditional and inventive recruitment tactics.
  • Closely manages the applicant pool and guides students through the process from started applicant to enrollment.
  • Evaluates and makes recommendations for admission decisions for all transfer applicants.
  • Reviews transcripts for unofficial evaluation of transfer credits and applicability of academic credit to program requirements
  • Works with the Assistant Vice President of Admissions to set and meet annual transfer enrollment goals.
  • Attends community college transfer fairs across North Carolina, with special emphasis on a regular presence at Wake Tech Community College. Tracks quality of programs/visits and measures ROI as it relates to enrollment.
  • Collaborates with the Assistant Vice President of Admissions to develop and implement comprehensive communication flows/messaging for transfer students at all points in the funnel.
  • Collaborates with the Assistant Vice President of Admissions to develop outreach strategies throughout the admission cycle to include phone calls, emails, texts and, when affordable, postal mail.
  • Establishes relationships and develops outreach strategies as well as comprehensive communication plans for transfer counselors with special emphasis on Wake Tech counselors.
  • Provides regular enrollment funnel reports to relevant constituents.
  • Utilizes Slate CRM to create, enhance, and measure the recruitment, admission, and conversion of transfer students. Uses the same data to monitor ROI of each strategy and tactic.
  • Reviews and develops policies and procedures to ensure maximum effectiveness, efficiency and compliance of admission processes, including the processing of applications and admission decisions.
General Responsibilities:
  • Stays informed about developments in higher education and implements best practices, methods and systems.
  • In partnership with Assistant Vice President of Admissions and Slate Consultant, identifies strategies to increase efficiency and enhance communications with Transfer students at all stages of the admissions funnel.
  • Works effectively with a diverse group of prospective students, parents/families, colleagues, and transfer counselors.
  • Perform other job-related duties and projects assigned.

  • Ability to detect and read a computer screen and printed material with or without vision aids; close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Ability to move and transport 5 pounds regularly and up to 20 pounds occasionally.
  • Ability to operate office equipment such as a calculator, computer, copy machine, printer, etc.
  • Ability to communicate in audible tones so that others understand clearly, adjusting volume and pace as required.
  • Frequently is required to move and remain in a stationary position at least 50% of the time.
  • Required to travel by transporting self or securing other means of transportation.

  • While a hybrid work schedule may be available on occasion, most work will be done on-site and in-person as business needs dictate.

Minimum Qualifications:
QUALIFICATIONS Candidates who make application within established recruitment dates are required to meet the minimum qualifications to be considered for employment. Minimum qualifications are the absolute smallest amount of experience and education that provide the ability to determine if the candidate could potentially perform well in the position. Preferred are the qualifications that enable a candidate to potentially excel in the position.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field with minimum two years of experience in transfer admissions and recruitment in higher education, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, outstanding organizational skills, ability to consistently meet deadlines and handle information confidentially, self-motivation, and ability to work independently with minimal direction.
  • Experience with effective utilization of a Customer Relations Management (CRM) system. Effective experience working with diverse populations and a commitment to working with students from all backgrounds.
  • Availability for evening and weekend work and overnight travel.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in Slate (CRM) and academic advising experience in addition to above outlined minimum qualifications.
  • NC driver’s license or ability to obtain within 60 days of employment.
