The Director of Commercial Development leads a group of business professionals who are collectively responsible for all our commercial development activities. This role is responsible for developing and implementing strategies to expand business within our existing basins and operational footprint and takes advantage of new market opportunities with existing and potentially new customers. The ability to negotiate sophisticated business transactions that meet our business and financial objectives, manage commercial aspects of projects from inception through in-service, and interact with top level, c-suite and other executive customers to build long-term relationships and develop business opportunities are keys to success.

Responsibilities/Expectations:
- Generates revenue through investing in expansion projects
- Directs the development and implementation of sophisticated projects, business ventures and transactions; collaborates with others to ensure projects are completed on time and on budget
- Leads development of franchise-specific commercial strategies, including collaboration internal partners; tracks progress on key strategic commercial efforts and ensures team accountability for achieving encouraged results
- Originates new business within the franchise by evaluating opportunities in coordination with others to build incremental value for Williams via gathering and processing assets or ancillary services for customers
- Leads a team of professional staff to effectively manage existing customer relationships; collaborates with internal support functions to defend the value of contracts during disputes and/or audits
- Establishes and maintains partnerships with customers
- Provides updates to senior leadership
- Develops/manages budgets, plan and forecasts; conducts regular cost analysis
- Coordinates workforce planning and career development for direct employees
- Other duties as assigned
Education/Years of Experience:
- Required: Bachelor's degree in engineering, business or related field; a minimum of ten (10) years' relevant proven experience
- Preferred: Master's degree in engineering, business or related field; a minimum of fifteen (15) years' relevant industry experience
Other Requirements:
- Experience leading teams passionate about originating and closing sophisticated commercial transactions
- Extensive experience in sophisticated commercial negotiation
- History of successfully developing and closing sophisticated commercial transactions
- Demonstrates ability to positively influence high level decision makers
- Demonstrates extensive knowledge of the energy industry
- Demonstrates excellent organizational/interpersonal skills and safety as the utmost priority
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications and PC skills
- Solid understanding of risk management principles and thinking around application to carbon risk
- Experience providing thought leadership and innovation to a growing business unit
- Demonstrated results as measured by growth in earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization (EBITDA)
- Technical and commercial leadership experience related to energy transition
