Duties
- Conduct thorough legal research using tools such as Lexis-Nexis and PCLaw to support case preparation.
- Draft and proofread various legal documents, including pleadings, contracts, and discovery materials.
- Assist attorneys in preparing for trials, hearings, and meetings by organizing case files and evidence.
- Interview clients and witnesses to gather pertinent information for cases.
- Maintain accurate records of case management activities and deadlines.
- Communicate effectively with clients, attorneys, and court personnel while demonstrating professional phone etiquette.
- Organize and manage legal documentation in compliance with established procedures.
- Perform administrative tasks related to the legal practice, including filing documents with the court.
Qualifications
- A degree in Paralegal Studies or a related field is preferred; equivalent experience will be considered.
- Proficiency in legal administrative tasks, including legal drafting and case management.
- Strong research skills with the ability to analyze complex information effectively.
- Excellent proofreading skills to ensure accuracy in all documentation.
- Familiarity with legal software such as Lexis-Nexis and PCLaw is advantageous.
- Exceptional interviewing skills to extract relevant information from clients and witnesses.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
