Job Title: Childcare Director Williams YMCA of Avery County
Reports to: Association Director of Youth Development
FLSA Status: Full-time
POSITION SUMMARY:
This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The Childcare Director at the Williams YMCA of Avery County intentionally fosters a cause-centered culture that is welcoming, genuine, hopeful, nurturing, and determined while also managing safe, high-quality, member-focused childcare programs. The ideal candidate is highly motivated and can provide strong leadership and development.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Ensures programs and services meet community needs to include supervising existing program activities, establishing new program activities, and expanding the program within the community as needed. Assists in the marketing and distribution of program information.
2. Maintains all State of North Carolina licensing and CACFP standards.
3. Provides daily supervision and administration of on-site childcare serving children 2 – 5 years of age.
4. Recruits and hires diverse staff and volunteer teams across multiple dimensions of diversity. On-boards and develops them for success. Conducts monthly staff meetings. Ensures records of staff certifications are current and complete.
5. Models relationship-building skills in all interactions.
6. Create and maintain yearly budget.
7. Maintains regular, clear, professional, and concise communication.
8. Maintains waitlist and enrollment of current and future families.
9. Manages the center, including developing and monitoring the program budget to meet fiscal objectives.
10. Develops & maintains collaborations with internal and external stakeholders to deliver programs and foster new program opportunities.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education (or related field) or equivalent combination of education and experience.
2. NC Early Childhood Administrator Certification.
3. Qualified to be a lead teacher in an early learning facility.
4. YMCA Leader certification (or equivalent). Team Leader certification (or equivalent) preferred. Candidates without this certification may complete within the first year of employment.
5. Minimum of two years related childcare experience required.
6. Ability to relate & communicate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
7. Must have strong organizational skills.
8. Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
9. Licensing knowledge/experience in North Carolina.

Pay: $45,000.00 - $50,000.00 per year
