JOB SUMMARY
Reporting directly to the Shop Supervisor, responsible for performing routine and preventive maintenance and repairs to equipment and vehicles.
EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED
- Performs preventive maintenance necessary to ensure the proper functioning of vehicles and / or heavy equipment, mechanical systems, and component parts
- Performs vehicle and medium-heavy truck diagnostics using scan tools and laptop computer
- Performs major and minor repairs on all air conditioning systems including automotive, medium-heavy, and heavy trucks
- Performs major and minor mechanical work, including but not limited to, repair and replace water / fuel pumps, radiators, alternators, differentials, timing chains, belts, hoses, fuses, valves, and batteries
- Operates a variety of hand, power, and shop tools
- Operates a variety of machinery such as computerized tire balancing machine, tire mount / dismount machine, and front-end alignment machine
- Cleans and maintains shop facilities and equipment
- Responds to service calls for assistance; retrieves or repairs vehicles and equipment in the field, as needed
- Assists in locating mechanical parts
- Transports vehicles and equipment to various locations
- Collaborates with vendors, technical staff, and manufacturing representatives
- Performs vehicle inspections for the State of Texas
- Attends all trainings and meetings as required
- Performs special duties as assigned
