What are the responsibilities and job description for the Per Diem Substitute Science Teacher - East High position at Williamsville Central School District?
Dates of assignment : ASAP - TBD
This is a per diem substitute position but may change into a Long-term substitute position depending on the length of the assignment.
QUALIFICATIONS :
Valid NYS Certification in Science (preferably Chemistry 7-12 and Biology 7-12)

Demonstrated evidence of knowledge of NYS Regents / Standards / Performance Indicators and ability to plan lessons for Regents level courses.
Demonstrated evidence of exceptional effective classroom management skills
Demonstrated evidence of a knowledge of technology and its application in the classroom
Demonstrated evidence of a proven ability to effectively organize
Demonstrated evidence of a proficiency in modifying curriculum to meet the needs of special education students and advanced learners
Demonstrated evidence of an ability to reflect and contemplate on one's teaching - allowing for growth and excellence
PREFERRED CHARACTERISTICS :
Demonstrated evidence of a willingness to contribute within and outside the department if called upon
i.e. advisor, chaperone, club, etc.)
DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES :
Plan, organize and provide instruction in Science that meet state and federal standards
Provide instruction that is consistent and coordinated with the district's / school's instructional program so as to ensure that
students meet and exceed learning targets
Develop and deliver lesson plans that utilize a broad range of appropriate teaching techniques and strategies
Address all aspects of communication through appropriate instruction that develops each student's ability to read, write,
speak, and listen in the appropriate content area
Maintain complete and accurate records of student progress and evidence of growth and progress
Provide a nurturing and supportive learning environment that encourages student responsibility and incorporates
challenging instructional strategies
Adapt curriculum to provide individual, small group, and / or remedial instruction as to meet the needs of individual students
and subgroups of student
Employ a variety of instructional techniques and strategies to meet different aptitudes and interests of students
Manage allotted learning time to maximize student achievement
REPORTS TO : Building Principal
SALARY : Per diem Sub Rate : $140-150 / day
Long Term Sub Rate : $160 / day (if assignment lasts 30 or more days)
