Job Summary:
The Municipal Tennis Program Lead Tennis Instructor is responsible for planning, coordinating, and leading tennis instruction and programming for the Willingboro Township Recreation & Parks Department. This position ensures high-quality instruction for players of all ages and skill levels while fostering a safe, inclusive, and engaging environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Instruction & Coaching: Design and implement tennis lessons, clinics, and camps for youth and adults, ensuring skill progression and player development.
- Program Coordination: Assist in organizing tennis leagues, tournaments, and community tennis events to enhance participation and engagement.
- Safety & Compliance: Enforce all safety protocols and maintain a structured and disciplined learning environment. Ensure all equipment and facilities are in safe and playable condition.
- Staff & Volunteer Oversight: Provide guidance and mentorship to assistant instructors and volunteers, ensuring effective delivery of lessons and adherence to program standards.
- Equipment & Facility Management: Oversee the proper use and maintenance of tennis equipment and courts, coordinating with Public Works for any needed repairs or maintenance.
- Community Engagement: Promote the tennis program through outreach efforts, collaborating with local schools, organizations, and community groups to increase participation.
- Administrative Duties: Maintain attendance records, provide progress reports for students, and assist with registration and program evaluation.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; degree in Physical Education, Sports Management, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience teaching or coaching tennis.
- USTA, PTR, or USPTA certification (preferred but not required).
- Strong knowledge of tennis techniques, rules, and teaching methodologies.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
- CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain before employment).
Work Environment & Physical Requirements:
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Physically capable of demonstrating tennis techniques and performing on-court instruction.
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds, including tennis equipment.
