Primary Function:
Under the direction and supervision of the Parts Manager, this position is responsible for selling retail parts to customers through direct counter sales, through the parts department, or on the telephone. Exercises initiative and independent judgment in the performance of assigned tasks. Performs all duties within the objectives, standards, and policies of Willis Automotive.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assists walk-in customers in selecting required parts, suggests companion requirements, specials, and ensures that the customer is aware of the full product line.
- Responsible for ordering inventory and ensuring that adequate inventory is in stock.

Responsible for handling all parts needs/requirements for the Service Department(s) to include:
- Ordering and inventory control
- Timely and accurate communication of parts availability to appropriate Service Department staff
- Timely delivery of parts to respective technician's workstation
- Processing returns
- Maintains positive and helpful interaction with Service personnel.
- Answers incoming calls, provides price quotes and other requested information.
- Sets up orders for daily shipment, delivery and pick up.
- Verifies "will call" and "back order" files weekly and returns to vendors.
- Assists other departments in selecting parts needed for repairs.
- Issues credit on returned parts.
- Ensures that charge sales are processed and signed by customer; cash sales are properly recorded.
- Keeps abreast of inventory, new products and product updates on all dealership car lines.
- Ability to operate material handling equipment with confidence and in a safe work manner.
- Completes annual manufacturer certification training/requirements.
- Communicates work accomplishments and activities to supervisor on a regular basis.
- Assists with performing the physical inventory of entire parts department one time a calendar year. This process is done after normal business hours.
- May assist with other duties in the absence of department staff.
- Maintains a neat and clean work area.
- Performs any other related duties as assigned.
What we need from you:
- Ability to read and comprehend instructions and information
- High school diploma/GED; some college coursework preferred.
- Minimum one-year experience in an automotive parts inventory or independent parts retail required.
- Previous customer service and sales experience helpful
- Skill to operate material handling equipment
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds comfortably; 70 pounds with assistance
- Strong ability to handle multiple tasks and complete daily projects
- Excellent customer service/telephone skills
- Must have ability to work well in a team-based environment
