The Facilities Electrician is responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems within commercial and marine environments. This role focuses primarily on supporting the electrical infrastructure of the company’s facilities, with an opportunity to expand into marine electrical systems used in yacht construction and repair. The ideal candidate has a strong commercial electrical background. There is potential for maritime training and work for the right candidate.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, maintain, and repair electrical systems in commercial facilities, including lighting, power distribution, and equipment wiring.
- Troubleshoot electrical issues and perform corrective actions to ensure system reliability and safety.
- Perform preventative maintenance on facility electrical systems and related components.
- Assist with the planning and installation of new electrical infrastructure as needed.
- Collaborate with the marine electrical team to support yacht production or service projects.
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical diagrams.
- Ensure all work complies with local and national electrical codes, company safety policies, and OSHA standards.
- Maintain accurate records of work performed and materials used.
- Support general facility maintenance tasks when required.
- Education: High school diploma or GED required. Technical training or certification in electrical systems preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 3–5 years of experience as a commercial electrician. Experience with marine electrical systems is a plus, or willingness to be trained.
- Skills:
- Proficient in diagnosing and repairing commercial electrical systems.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and electrical schematics.
- Strong understanding of NEC (National Electrical Code) standards in commercial settings.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good communication and time management skills.
- Work is performed in a marine and industrial environment with exposure to noise, dust, fumes, and varying weather conditions.
- May involve working in confined spaces, at heights, or in awkward positions.
- Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
- Requires frequent standing, walking, bending, climbing, and lifting up to 50 lbs.
- Requires the use of hand tools, power tools, and equipment.
- Occasional overtime and weekend work may be necessary.
