Responsibilities
- As a Licensed Behavioral Health Counselor, you will have a pivotal role in providing comprehensive mental health support to our diverse clientele. Your responsibilities will include:
- Conducting thorough assessments to gain a comprehensive understanding of clients' backgrounds, needs, and goals.
- Developing and implementing individualized treatment plans based on evidence-based counseling techniques and modalities.
- Facilitating counseling sessions with individuals, couples, families, or groups to address a wide range of mental health concerns.
- Providing guidance, support, and psychoeducation to clients, helping them develop coping strategies and improve their overall well-being.
- Collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to ensure holistic and integrated care for clients, including coordinating with psychiatrists, psychologists, and social workers.
- Maintaining accurate and confidential client records, ensuring compliance with all relevant legal and ethical guidelines.
- Engaging in ongoing professional development and staying up-to-date with the latest research and best practices in the field of behavioral health counseling.
- Valid and active license as a Behavioral Health Counselor (LCSW, LCSW-R, or LMHC) in New York State.
- Ability to pass a full background check.
- Master's degree in Social Work, Mental Health Counseling or a related field eligible for insurance credentialing. Degree must be from an accredited institution.
- Demonstrated experience in providing individual, couples, and/or group counseling in a behavioral health setting.
- Proficiency in evidence-based counseling approaches, such as Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Progressive Counting (PC), Play Therapy, or Mindfulness-based interventions.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport and establish therapeutic alliances with diverse clients, as well as their primary supports.
- Strong assessment and diagnostic skills, with the ability to develop and implement effective treatment plans.
- Adherence to ethical guidelines and a strong commitment to maintaining confidentiality and professionalism.
- Clinically licensed counselors are strongly encouraged to accept a certain percentage of pro bono and/or sliding scale patients for individuals who cannot afford co-pays/deductibles.
