Description
Primary Function :
- The Research Technician assists the Clinical Research Coordinator and Principal Investigator conduct clinical research studies. This position requires expertise in ophthalmic imaging techniques.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities :
2. Demonstrates knowledge of FDA and IRB requirements for drug and device research protocols.
3. Acts as a liaison between the patient, investigator, IRB and study sponsor in an effective and timely fashion.
4. Ensures proper staffing coverage for studies.
5. Performs ophthalmic photography and diagnostic services using state-of-the-art technologies.
6. Assists with image-archiving and storage. Manages duplicates and escalates any problems or concerns with image capture.
7. Acquires images of medical phenomena of eyes to document diseases, surgeries, treatments, and congenital problems.
8. Obtains pre-procedural consent forms and other related documentation, as needed.
9. Educates subjects regarding administration of medications, as well as pre- and post-procedural instructions, as directed by the ophthalmologist.
10. Maintains proficiencies in operating ophthalmic imaging technologies.
11. Occasionally takes off-hour calls to answer patient questions and concerns in regard to the applicable studies.
12. Ensures patient safety is maintained at all times.
13. Strives to maintain the confidentiality of patients and families / significant other(s).
14. Respects and protects the patient's rights to confidentiality and privacy, and discloses information only for professional purposes which are in the patients' bets interest with full consideration of their legal rights.
15. Functions as an effective team member, forming and maintaining effective working relationships with peers and management.
