Gillson Beach House Operations Lead Job Summary
The Beach House Supervisor is responsible for directing all daily operations at the beach house. The season begins in May and ends in October.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Oversees daily workflow of the swimming beach
- Supervise approximately 10 part-time employees
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
- Manage day-to-day operations at Gillson Beach, including the beach house, swimming beach, and parking lots
- Perform daily and bi-weekly in-service training sessions for staff
- Provide backup coverage for all positions at the swimming beach
- Make appropriate operational adjustments based on weather conditions
- Monitor and fill out reports on weather conditions, equipment, and daily department tasks
- Perform pre-, mid, and post-season inventory and recommend equipment purchases
- Monitor and complete reports on water conditions, safety, and equipment checks, and incident reports
- Enforce all area rules and regulations with consistency
- Assist with park and facility cleanliness
- Comply with established Park District and site procedures
- Ability to deliver information in a clear and effective manner
- Perform other related duties as assigned based on agency needs
- Actively contribute to the Park Districts’ sustainability goals
Safety Responsibilities:
- Actively support the safety program that will effectively control and reduce accidents
- Obey all Park District and departmental safety rules, regulations, and procedures established by the Wilmette Park District safety program that are pertinent to the activities conducted at the facility and property
- Promptly report all unsafe actions, practices, or conditions to the immediate supervisor
- Attend and participate in required safety training
- Review all accident and incident reports that occur under the area of responsibility and send them to the Human Resources/Risk Management division

Education and Experience:
- Must be at least 18 years of age
Physical Requirements/Work Environment:
- Must be able to work outdoors in all weather conditions
- Must be able to lift and move 25 pounds
- Holiday and weekend work is required
- Frequently required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls, reach with hands and arms, push, pull, carry, and repeatedly stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
- Occasionally required to sit, climb or balance
