Lakefront Operations Lead Job Summary
The Lakefront Operations Lead is responsible for maintaining day-to-day operations, with a focus on the sailing and swimming beaches. The lead also supports lakefront staff where needed.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Oversees all part-time positions on property in the absence of the Lakefront Operations Supervisor and General Manager.
- Handles discipline of employees in accordance with Wilmette Park District policy.
- Oversees the daily workflow and staffing of positions in designated areas.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
- Create rotation schedules for various staff positions.
- Ability to move into on-site staff position rotation as needed.
- Work with management to conduct pre and post-season facility prep and breakdown.
- Present training to part-time staff for positions including daily lifeguard in-services.
- Be available to answer questions from members, program participants, and staff.
- Communicate property updates, important events, and other information to staff via apps and scheduling platforms.
- Enforce property regulations for patrons.
- Provide support to staff members when conflict arises.
- Propose improvements or revisions in procedures to suit the changing needs of the property and programs.
- Perform other related duties as assigned based on agency needs
- Actively contribute to the Park Districts’ sustainability goals
Safety Responsibilities:
- Actively support the safety program that will effectively control and reduce accidents
- Obey all Park District and departmental safety rules, regulations, and procedures established by the Wilmette Park District safety program that are pertinent to the activities conducted at the facility and property
- Promptly report all unsafe actions, practices, or conditions to the immediate supervisor
- Attend and participate in required safety training
- Review all accident and incident reports that occur under the area of responsibility and send them to the Human Resources/Risk Management division
- Responsible for administering minor first aid if needed
Required Skills/Abilities (Technology, Mathematical, Language):
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
- Ability to function well in a fast-paced and at time stressful environment.
- Ability to prioritize tasks
- Strong supervisory and leadership skills
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills

Education and/or Experience:
- Must be at least 21 years of age
- At least 1 year in a supervisory role
- Preference is given to those with previous experience at Gillson Park
Physical Requirements/Work Environment:
- Must be able to work outdoors in all weather conditions
- Must be able to lift and/or move 25 pounds
- Friday, Saturday, and Sunday availability required
- Frequently required to sit, stand and climb
- Specific vision abilities, including close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
Required Certificates/Licenses/Registrations:
- Valid Illinois driver’s license
- American Red Cross First Aid/CPR/AED certification
American Red Cross Waterfront Lifeguarding is preferred but not required.
