The Wilmette Park District offers Summer Short-term staff the following benefits: Individual Seasonal Beach and Pool Pass, One (1) parking decal for Gillson Beach (over 16 years of age only), Individual Center Fitness Club Membership for June – August for the year of employment.
Lakefront Security Job Summary
Lakefront Security is responsible for maintaining patron compliance throughout the beach and park.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- None
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
- Patrol grounds and control access to unauthorized areas
- Ensures patron compliance with Park District and property policies
- Perform spot checks of personal belongings
- Verify and issue permits for picnic areas
- Respond to incidents and provide support to Park Patrol staff.
- Secure park buildings at specified hours
- Monitor and complete reports on damages, unusual occurrences, and unsecured areas
- Communicate with police or fire department in case of fire or the presence of unauthorized persons
- Ability to work autonomously
- Enforce all area rules and regulations with consistency
- Assist with park and facility cleanliness
- Comply with established Park District and site procedures
- Perform other related duties as assigned based on agency needs
- Operate 6-wheel ATV in a safe manner throughout the park
- Actively contribute to the Park Districts’ sustainability goals
Safety Responsibilities:
- Actively support the safety program that will effectively control and reduce accidents
- Obey all Park District and departmental safety rules, regulations, and procedures established by the Wilmette Park District safety program that are pertinent to the activities conducted at the facility and property
- Promptly report all unsafe actions, practices, or conditions to the immediate supervisor
- Attend and participate in required safety training
- Review all accident and incident reports that occur under the area of responsibility and send them to the Human Resources/Risk Management division
Required Skills/Abilities (Technology, Mathematical, Language):
- Ability to deliver information in a clear and effective manner
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills

Education and/or Experience:
- Must be at least 18 years of age
Physical Requirements/Work Environment:
- Must be able to work outdoors in all weather conditions
- Frequently required to stand and walk
- Occasionally required to sit, climb or balance
- Holiday and weekend work is required
- Must be able to lift and/or move 25 pounds
Required Certificates/Licenses/Registrations:
- State Issued Driver Licensee
- CPR/AED Certification – Park District provided
Hours
May – September position
Afternoon, evening, and weekend hours are to be expected. Schedule set by Lakefront General Manager
