What are the responsibilities and job description for the Finance Director position at Wilson County Schools, TN?
Qualified applicant must hold a minimumm of a Bachelor's degree in accounting, with a Master's degree or Certified Public Accountant (C.P.A.) preferred. Must possess knowledge of Governmental Accounting, Budgeting, Payroll, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, and mid-level computer operations. Must have at least three (3) years' experience in a similar position.
The goal of this position is to administer the business affairs of the school system in such a way as to provide the best possible educational services with financial resources available.
The successful candidate will report to the Director of Schools and job duties will include, but are not limited to:
- Coordinate daily financial work activities; organize, prioritize, and assign work; monitor status of work in progress, and consult with assigned staff;
- Oversee budgets, accounting, fiscal planning, risk management, payroll, fixed assets, benefits, and procurement;
- Supervise, direct, and evaluate Finance Department staff;
- Prepare, present, and implement the school system's annual budget after consulting with department heads and reviewing submitted requests;
- Monitor and approve all expenditures;
- Arrange for the internal auditing of school accounts; and
- Advise Director of Schools on questions/matters relating to the business and financial affairs of the school system.
This is a 12-month (260 days) assignment, with a salary of $127,449 per year.
