Position Summary

The Accounts Payable Specialist will have a background in accounts payable functions, with proven ability to manage accurate and timely payment of invoicesand improving AP workflows. This position will have the opportunity to interact with various areas and departments across the finance function with great long-term growth opportunities, including interaction with senior level management.

Role Responsibilities

• Assist with the cash accounting and reconciliation process, including:
• Preparation of certain regular journal entries to record cash transactions to the ledger
• Daily cash account monitoring
• Preparation of the monthly and quarterly account reconciliation process
• Assist with accounts payable processing
• Assist with the preparation of certain regular journal entries to record expenses and payables transactions to the ledger; preparation of Corporate journal entries
• Preparation of certain Balance Sheet tie outs
• Continuous process improvements, including identification and implementation of opportunities for process and control enhancements
• Perform other related duties as required, based on the changing goals and objectives of the department and organization
  
  

Basic Qualifications

• Fundamental understanding of accounting concepts
• Continuous improvement mindset with the ability to ‘think outside the box’ to improve processes
• Excellent interpersonal, communication and collaboration skills
• Strong analytical capabilities and good organizational skills
• Motivated with ability to take initiative and manage competing priorities while consistently hitting deadlines
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel
• Knowledge of Sharepoint a plus
• Exposure to US Statutory accounting principles a plus
• Experience with BlackLine a plus
• Experience with Oracle NetSuite AP a plus
• Knowledge of 1099 reporting a plus
• Life insurance (reinsurance) experience, including statutory Bluebook reporting a plus
  
  

Required Education / Certifications

• BS or BA in Accounting or Finance preferred
• 2-5 years of accounting experience in public accounting or private sector
• Mathematics or other with equivalent accounting experience

Hybrid Structure

Minimal to no travel required

This role is nonexempt and eligible for paid overtime. The annualized salary range for this position in Connecticut is between $55,000 and $75,000. Please note that specific compensation decisions are based upon a variety of job-relate d factors as permitted by law, including geographic location, credentials, skills, education, training, and experience.

Base salary is just one component of Wilton Re’s total compensation package for employees. Additional compensation includes annual performance-based bonus, 401K with employer contribution, and profit-sharing program. Employee may also be eligible for long-term incentives (equity). All incentives and benefits are subject to the applicable plan terms.
