Position Summary
The Staff or Senior Investment Accountant is responsible for the preparation and review of the accounting and reporting of the company’s investments for multiple entities on a US statutory and GAAP basis across various asset classes, including the facilitation of investment accounting related processes and initiatives.

Base salary/hourly rate range for this position in Connecticut is between $80,000 and $ 140,000 Please note that specific compensation decisions are based upon a variety of job-related factors as permitted by law, including geographic location, credentials, skills, education, training, and experience.
Base salary is just one component of Wilton Re’s total compensation package for employees. Additional compensation includes annual performance-based bonus, 401K with employer contribution, and profit-sharing program. Employee may also be eligible for long-term incentives (equity). All incentives and benefits are subject to the applicable plan terms.

The Staff or Senior Investment Accountant is responsible for the preparation and review of the accounting and reporting of the company’s investments for multiple entities on a US statutory and GAAP basis across various asset classes, including the facilitation of investment accounting related processes and initiatives.
Role Responsibilities
- Prepare and review financial statements, reports, disclosures, and analysis that comply with internal controls and US statutory and GAAP standards for accounting and reporting of the company’s investments
- Assist the Bermuda office with required reporting of investment details to the Bermuda Monetary Authority
- Analyze investment portfolio and ensure accuracy of data used for reporting. This includes working with third-party investment accounting provider on monthly and quarterly deliverables and ensuring data integrity and timeliness
- Perform timely monitoring and reconciliation of receivable and suspense items
- Assist with limited partnership accounting (e.g., booking and reviewing monthly LP activity and maintaining documentation)
- Prepare reporting to senior management, Investment Committee, and Board of Directors
- Complete requests from regulators, rating agencies, auditors, and other external and internal parties
- Review and analyze investment related expenses (e.g., for asset managers)
- Maintain state deposits and interact with states and custodians, as needed, to keep up with the regulatory requirements
- Lead special projects and initiatives related to investment accounting, as needed
- 3-5 years minimum of investment accounting experience
- Knowledge of US Statutory, GAAP, and tax basis investment accounting principles
- Knowledge of life insurance risk-based capital requirements for investments
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- Process improvement mindset
- Ability to work independently with good organizational skills
- The following would be a plus:
- Knowledge of life (re)insurance industry and transactions
- Experience with Clearwater Analytics, or similar, investment reporting
- Experience with Gain Compliance or other statement preparation software
- B.S. or B.A. in Accounting or related field
