Middle School Theatre Arts Teacher
Windermere Preparatory School is seeking a Middle School Theatre Arts teacher who has expertise in teaching formal theatre arts classes. The successful candidate will direct productions, teach acting classes, sponsor Thespian Clubs, and participate in Theatre Department activities.
The teacher will educate students on acting techniques, methods, and styles.
The teacher will also educate students on the history of performance and acting, as well as basic staging, lighting and directing. Students will learn how to communicate, control and project their voices, and present themselves. The teacher will assess and grade student performance and maintain adequate communication with parents. Experience with the IB MYP curriculum preferred. Any necessary IB MYP training and professional develipment will be made a priority for the successful candidate.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Create lesson plans in accordance with Curriculum Guidelines
- Organize and manage the learning environment
- Carry out the mission and goals of the WPS Theatre Arts Deparment and the School
- Direct/Support Staff for after school productions
- Teach Theatre classes as prescribed.
- Sponsor/Advise Junior Thespians
- Participate in Fine Arts Department activities and programs
- Fundraise and network within community as needed
- Collaborate with colleagues at all levels within the school as needed
- Manages student classroom behavior
- Consistently updates job knowledge by participating in school development opportunities, seeks relevant outside professional organizations, keeps informed via publications, books, etc
- Other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor of Arts Degree in Theatre and/or Musical Theatre required.
- Minimum of 2 years of formal theatre arts teaching experience
- Ability to mentor and coach students in a positive manner.
- Ability to articulate the Mission, Vision, and Values of the school as well as Nord Anglia Education.
- Working knowledge of Google platform.
- Piano accompaniment skills preferred.
