We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated individual to fill the role of Long Term Substitute Teacher Assistant in our educational institution. As a member of our team, you will be responsible for providing support to students with special needs, assisting classroom teachers, and contributing to a positive learning environment.
About the Job:
This is a long-term substitute position, requiring a committed and flexible individual who can work closely with our staff to ensure the success of our students. Your primary responsibility will be to assist the classroom teacher in implementing instructional plans, managing student behavior, and maintaining a safe and organized classroom environment.
Responsibilities:
- Assist students with physical and/or educational needs both individually and in small groups
- Collaborate with classroom teachers regarding students' needs and requirements, including IEP goals
- Provide escort and mobility assistance to students when necessary
- Maintain student records to include progress reports, attendance, etc.
- Record student learning data as directed
- Assist in preparation and distribution of lesson plan materials
- Communicate in a positive manner with parents on the progress of students
- Act as expert classroom support to substitute in absence of teacher
- Assist students with classwork
- Assist with recess, supervision, restroom breaks, emergency drills, assemblies, field trips, etc.
- Maintain respect at all times for confidential information
- Attend meetings and professional development training as required
- Prepare materials for class projects
- Interact in a positive manner with staff, students, and parents
Requirements:
- 4-year degree preferred
- 2 years' experience with children
- Associate's degree or Para Pro certificate
- Teaching experience desired
- Experience working in school setting; public school preferred
- Experience working with students with special needs
- Bilingual (Spanish/English) preferred
