What are the responsibilities and job description for the Paraprofessional Long Term Sub position at Windham Public Schools?
Assist the classroom teacher in creating a conducive learning environment for all students, focusing on physically, mentally, and educationally disadvantaged students. Broaden their educational experiences and contribute to their development.
- Provide individualized or group assistance to students with physical and educational needs.
- Collaborate with teachers on student needs, including IEP goals.
- Offer escort and mobility support as needed.
- Receive instructions from supervising teachers.
- Maintain accurate student records.
- Document student learning data as directed.
- Assist in preparing and distributing lesson materials.
- Communicate positively with parents about student progress.
- Support substitute teaching in the absence of the regular teacher.
- Help students with classwork.
- Supervise recess, breaks, drills, assemblies, and field trips.
- Maintain confidentiality at all times.
- Attend required meetings and training sessions.
- Prepare project materials.
- Interact positively with staff, students, and parents.
- Promote good public relations through personal appearance and attitude.
- Perform assigned duties by the classroom teacher or principal.
- Experience working with young children is preferred.
- Ability to implement behavioral goals.
- Understanding of child development.
- Effective communication and listening skills.
- Ability to work effectively with others.
- Organizational and problem-solving skills.
- A 4-year degree is preferred.
- At least 2 years of experience working with children is required.
- An Associate's degree or Para Pro certificate is necessary.
- Teaching experience is desired.
- Previous experience in a school setting, preferably public schools.
- Working with students with special needs is beneficial.
- Bilingualism in Spanish and English is preferred.
Salary: In accordance with the WFEP contract
