What are the responsibilities and job description for the School Nutrition Director position at Windham Southeast Supervisory Union?
The School Nutrition Program Director for Windham Southeast Supervisory Union will oversee all aspects of the district’s School Nutrition Program (SNP) operations. The job functions include administering, planning, directing, assessing, implementing, and evaluating the program to meet the nutritional and educational needs of students (preschool through 12th grade), as they relate to the SNP. The program will emphasize the use of at least 15% local foods, scratch cooking, culturally diverse menu offerings, and adherence to district-wide nutrition standards. The SNP Director will also promote taste tests of new menu items, feature Vermont Harvest of the Month, and actively engage in Farm-to-School activities.
This position prepares, monitors, and administers the school nutrition program budget of $2.8 million and collaborates with the Child Nutrition Accountant, Nutrition Program Coordinator, and school site staff (approximately 25 employees).
The School Nutrition Program Director will be responsible for implementing training at school sites and ensuring high standards of nutrition, food production, financial accountability, and student services, as set forth by Child Nutrition Services and WSESU policies.
