Summary:
WSESU is seeking a Special Education Teacher or General Education Middle school/High school
certified teacher with relevant experience. This position as a special educator is assigned as an
essential skills community focused middle/high school position. A demonstrated commitment
to collaboration with all school staff and families is required.
Qualified candidates will document a strong work ethic, excellent written and verbal
communication skills, and proven instructional
skills. Remedial literacy and math instruction, curriculum planning, trauma informed practices,
case management experience, within student-centered practices are highly desirable traits.
Experience with collaboration with teaching staff, support staff, and community agencies is a
plus.
Qualifications:
Special education teacher licensure through grades 12 or any middle school/high school teacher
licensure with experience teaching within special education classrooms/programs.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
● Work as member of multidisciplinary team for determining eligibility for special
education services, IEP development, consultation services, and service delivery models.
● Assure compliance with established state and federal laws, regulations, policies, and
procedures.
● Create appropriate, individualized goals, objectives, and transition plans with an IEP
team.
● Prepare written reports (e.g. progress notes, data tracking) and present findings at
team meetings as needed.
● Utilize instructional and community based experiences that are appropriate for each
student’s age, developmental level, and goals.
● Assess, select, and develop community partnerships necessary to support student
learning.

● Supervise, model, and support paraeducators working with students in school and
community settings.
● Remain current concerning instructional and technological advances and other matters
concerning school to work approaches. . Attend and participate in professional
workshops and conferences. Maintain appropriate professional licensure at state level.
● Attend staff meetings.
● Interest, willingness, and/or experience integrating and advancing practices of diversity,
equity and inclusion
