Locations: Utah, Northern California & Virginia. This position will have travel associated with it.
This position will currently report to the VP of Supply Chain. The procurement specialist will manage sourcing, purchasing, and supplier relationships to ensure a smooth and cost-effective supply chain. This employee will be responsible for identifying reliable suppliers, managing procurement strategies, and optimizing inventory levels. This role requires strong analytical skills, negotiation expertise, and an understanding of supply chain management. This is a growth position.
Responsibilities
Procurement & Sourcing
· Develop and implement procurement strategies to source quality materials, goods, and services at competitive prices.
· Identify, evaluate, and establish relationships with reliable suppliers, manufacturers, and vendors.
· Conduct supplier negotiations to secure favorable pricing, contract terms, and delivery schedules.
· Issue and manage purchase orders (POs) while ensuring compliance with company policies and industry regulations.
Supply Chain & Inventory Management
· Collaborate with supply chain teams to ensure proper inventory levels, preventing shortages or overstock situations.
· Monitor market trends, supplier performance, and demand forecasts to adjust procurement strategies.
· Coordinate with warehouse and logistics teams to streamline inventory tracking, replenishment, and distribution.
· Optimize procurement costs and enhance operational efficiency by identifying cost-saving opportunities.
Supplier Relationship Management
· Maintain strong relationships with existing suppliers while continuously evaluating new sourcing opportunities.
· Assess supplier performance based on quality, cost, reliability, and compliance with contracts.
· Address and resolve any supplier-related issues, such as delays, defective materials, or contract disputes.
Compliance & Risk Management
· Ensure procurement activities comply with company policies, ethical standards, and regulatory requirements.
· Identify, communicate and work with leaders to mitigate supply chain risks, such as price fluctuations, geopolitical challenges, and raw material shortages.
· Stay updated on import/export regulations, tariffs, and industry best practices.
Data Analysis & Reporting
· Utilize procurement software and ERP systems to track purchase orders, spending, and supplier performance.
· Analyze cost structures, supplier trends, and key performance indicators (KPIs) to enhance decision-making.
· Prepare detailed reports on procurement activities, cost savings, and supplier performance for management review.
Qualifications & Requirements
Education
· Bachelor's degree or certificate equivalent in a related field. Finance or accounting a plus.
· Minimum 2-3 years of experience in procurement and purchasing.
· Experience in manufacturing, logistics, or distribution industries is preferred.
Technical Skills
· Strong knowledge of procurement processes and supplier evaluation.
· Strong analytical skills
· Proficiency in ERP systems (JD Edwards, SAP, Oracle, or similar), procurement software, and Microsoft Office Suite
· Spanish a plus
Soft Skills
· Excellent negotiation and relationship management skills.
· Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
· Ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
· Detail-oriented with strong analytical and financial acumen.
· Availability to travel for supplier visits and site visits as needed.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $55,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
