The bookkeeper is responsible for managing the financial records of the marina(s), ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards including local, state, and federal financial regulations. This position maintains financial data, which includes accounts payable and receivable, bank reconciliation, and general ledger entries. Accounting expertise and a detail-oriented approach is essential for this role to support the financial health and operational efficiency of our marinas.
Duties And Responsibilities Include, But Are Not Limited To
- Account and Bank Reconciliation:
- Prepare bank reconciliations for multiple bank accounts and ensure all financial transactions are recorded accurately.
- Record journal entries for accruals, prepaid amortization, management fees, and other items as needed in Dockmaster.
- Accounts Receivable:
- Apply cash receipts.
- Post daily cash.
- Record chargebacks.
- Accounts Payable:
- Input invoices for multiple vendors.
- Process checks for General Manager signatures.
- Other Responsibilities:
- Balance customer and tenant security deposits.
- Ensure marina personnel receive inventory timely and accurately.
- Assist with monthly reconciliation of inventory for fuel, ship store, and service parts.
- Proven experience as a bookkeeper or in a similar role.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (preferred).
- Previous experience in the marina industry a plus.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices.
- Proficiency in using accounting and marina management software (Dockmaster), Microsoft Excel, Word, and Teams.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and work in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to sit for extended periods of time.
- High level of integrity and confidentiality.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
