This is a full time, exempt position with a 4-day work week!
Position Summary
The Quality Control (QC) Supervisor will lead and manage a team of QC inspectors. In this role, you will oversee daily inspection activities, including receiving, in-process, and final inspections. Your responsibilities will include ensuring compliance with order specifications, dimensional requirements, and adherence to both internal quality control systems and customer standards. This position reports directly to the Quality Assurance Manager. Key duties include, but are not limited to:
- Supervise, guide, and mentor a team of QC Inspectors, managing their time and attendance through an online portal.
- Conduct inspections of products using a variety of tools, including manual measurement equipment, CMMs, vision systems, and optical comparators.
- Perform first-article inspections per AS9102 standards, ensuring all documentation is maintained properly.
- Contribute to quality planning activities by preparing and maintaining inspection instructions, SPC data, and related quality documentation.
- Verify that products meet specified quality and dimensional requirements.
- Identify, manage, and address non-conforming products and ensure proper disposition and control measures are taken.
- Actively participate in root cause analysis and lead corrective action and prevention (CAPA) initiatives.
- Collaborate with manufacturing teams to resolve quality and production-related issues.
- Maintain accurate records and ensure proper documentation is kept for quality assurance purposes.
- Oversee the traceability of raw materials and finished products.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support quality initiatives.
Job Requirements
- Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints and technical documentation.
- Strong knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerances (GD&T).
- Extensive experience in creating and maintaining quality documentation such as control plans, inspection instructions, etc.
- In-depth knowledge of AS9100D and ISO9001 quality management standards.
- Hands-on experience with CMM programming and operating measurement equipment, including micrometers, calipers, optical comparators, indicators, and gauges.
- Proven leadership skills with the ability to motivate, coach, and develop a team to enhance productivity.
- Ability to efficiently multi-task and manage competing priorities.
- Collaborative and capable of working closely with team members when planning departmental needs.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
- Highly organized, self-driven, and capable of working independently.
- Excellent attendance record and a commitment to reliable work habits.
- Strong communication and mathematical skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with first-article inspections in accordance with AS9102 standards.
- Familiarity with Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) and its implementation in the quality control process.
- Experience conducting Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (PFMEA) to evaluate and mitigate process risks.
Education & Experience
- Minimum of 3-4 years of experience in Quality Assurance/Quality Control.
- 2 years of supervisory experience is required.
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Manufacturing experience is preferred.
- Experience with CMM and vision inspection systems is strongly preferred.
- Familiarity with high-precision, tight-tolerance parts.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift, push, and/or pull up to 30 lbs.
- Comfortable using standard office equipment (computer, photocopier, etc.).
