Commercial Construction Estimator
Estimator is a critical position within Winmar Construction as Estimators are responsible for ensuring that we know everything required to successfully bid and win the project. Estimators must aggressively follow-up with subcontractors to ensure that bids are received and qualified. Estimators also work with the Principals and Project Management teams to follow-up on bids and budgets to close the business.
Top candidates will be strong communicators, pro-active, and perform well under pressure.
Duties:
- Read and review all bid and RFP documentation in order to gain a deep understanding of the project requirements
- Have a detailed and comprehensive knowledge of construction and construction methods
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings and specifications
- Select, measure and track important metrics
- Visit sites, and other venues necessary to do the estimate
- Perform complex analysis of collected data and metrics
- Conduct bid review and coordinate any in-house self-preform vs subcontracting
- Ensure solid sub/vendor coverage
- Preform detailed takeoffs using computer spreadsheets and databases as well as estimating, take-off, and scheduling software
- Prepare relevant and reliable forecasts
- Have strong planning and organizational skills
- Create and present reports to upper management
- Analyze and evaluate sub/vendor quotes/offers
- Build and maintain long-term relationships with the key vendors, Subcontractors, and clients
Requirements:
- 3 -5 years previous working experience as construction estimator
- Knowledge of estimating and project management
- Familiarity with BlueBeam, Planswift, Procore a plus
- Technical writing, preparing work plans a plus
- Project scheduling and bid scheduling a plus
- Good time-management skills
- Ability to multi-task
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Critical-thinker and problem-solver
- BA in engineering, construction science or similar relevant field a plus

Salary : $85,000 - $95,000
