What are the responsibilities and job description for the Production Planner position at Winnebago Industries Inc?
Primary Objective of Position: The Part Sales Production Planner is responsible for maintaining valid inventory levels from production verticals and vendors to satisfy all customer requirements, while optimizing the usage of company material and resources.
Key Areas of Responsibility
- Develop and manage production schedules using Dynamics 365, ensuring optimal resource utilization and timely delivery of materials and parts.
- Manages communication of production commitments to the stakeholders within the sales, marketing, service, and engineering groups.
- Maintains item attributes for non-current parts, such as lead times, lot sizes, and current cost. Liaises with engineering/production to ensure items can be built.
- Create and lead inventory strategies for all required Service goods (raw, semi-finished and expense). Acts as owner for all associated physical inventory and future inventory plans and provides input to management regarding long term issues that could impact corporate decisions.
- Proactively manage day-to-day production orders, sequencing, material flow, and exceptions, ensuring that physical and digital are in alignment.
- Monitor production and vendor due dates, identifying and resolving late or lost items.
- Collaborate with procurement and supply chain teams to ensure timely availability of materials and components.
- Analyze production data and forecasts to anticipate potential issues and proactively make industry-standard system changes so we can deliver on time.
- Implement and maintain production planning best practices and standard operating procedures.
- Manage inventory levels and work-in-progress reports to minimize stockouts and delays.
- Support other staff in the use of Dynamics 365 for production planning.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity and efficiency.
- Other duties as assigned based on business needs.

Education & Experience
- Manufacturing or supply chain experience within the MRP environment.
- Knowledge of operations, scheduling and purchasing procedures, MRP systems and their processes (preferable D365), and supply chain best practices.
- Ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment with minimal supervision.
- Excellent English and verbal written communication.
- Proficiency in MS Office, Outlook, Word and Excel.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with different departments.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills to identify and address production planning issues.
- Attention to detail and ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines.
- Strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
Physical demands & Work Environment
Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment. The Part Sales office is located on a mezzanine in the Main Warehouse; the candidate should be able to perform the job tasks with or without reasonable accommodations.

- Moving about on foot in a warehouse environment.
- Climbing up and down stairs to access the office area and Warehouse floor.
