Position Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and creative Pastry Chef to join our esteemed culinary team. The ideal candidate will possess a passion for crafting exceptional desserts, pastries, and baked goods, showcasing artistry and technical expertise. The Pastry Chef will be responsible for developing and executing a dynamic pastry program that aligns with the resort's culinary vision, utilizing local and seasonal ingredients whenever possible. This role requires a leader who can inspire and mentor a small team while maintaining the highest standards of quality and presentation.
Responsibilities
- Menu Development & Execution:
- Create innovative and seasonal dessert menus for the resort's restaurant, special events, and afternoon tea service.
- Develop and refine recipes, ensuring consistency and quality.
- Prepare and present desserts with meticulous attention to detail and artistic flair.
- Production & Management:
- Oversee the daily operations of the pastry kitchen, ensuring efficient and organized workflow.
- Manage inventory, ordering, and cost control for pastry ingredients and supplies.
- Maintain a clean and sanitary work environment, adhering to all food safety regulations.
- Ensure timely production for all outlets.
- Team Leadership & Development:
- Train, mentor, and supervise pastry kitchen staff.
- Foster a positive and collaborative work environment.
- Ingredient Sourcing & Sustainability:
- Source high-quality, seasonal ingredients from local farms and purveyors whenever possible.
- Implement sustainable practices within the pastry kitchen.
- Special Events & Custom Orders:
- Create custom desserts for special events, weddings, and private dining experiences.
- Collaborate with the events team to ensure seamless execution of dessert service.
Qualifications
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Pastry Chef in a high-end restaurant or resort.
- Formal culinary training or equivalent experience.
- Proven expertise in all aspects of pastry preparation, including baking, chocolate work, and plated desserts.
- Strong understanding of pastry techniques, ingredients, and flavor profiles.
- Exceptional creativity and artistic flair.
- Excellent organizational, time management, and leadership skills.
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation regulations.
- Experience with wedding cake production is a plus.
- Must be able to work seasonal hours.
- Must meet physical requirements for this role.
- Must pass background screening.
- Must fulfill I-9 From requirements.
