1.0 FTE, 80 Hours a Pay Period
Days/Evenings, Hours between 7:30 am – 7:30 pm
Weekends: Every Third Weekend
Holidays: Every Third Holiday
On-Call: Rotation
Position Overview:
The Retail Pharmacist is responsible to the Director of Pharmacy for the routine daily operation of the pharmacy and for supervising and coordinating activities of the pharmacy support staff. They are responsible for accurate and efficient filling of prescriptions to include final check of prescriptions, mandated patient counseling, maintenance of records, inventory control and security, adhering to pharmacy laws, and proper implementation of HIPAA. Patient types include retail, employee, and long-term care patients.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Receives electronic prescriptions and reviews for appropriateness.
- Receives telephone and verbal prescriptions, reduces them to writing.
- Reviews drug regimen on patient profiles watching for irregularities, incompatibilities, contraindications and allergies as appropriate.
- Counsels and advises patients on their medications as required by OBRA90 and state and federal statutes.
- Supervises, checks, and certifies activities of the pharmacy technicians.
- Administers immunizations to patients.
- Ensures that all applicable pharmacy laws are followed.
- Other duties as assigned.

Skills and Experience:
Required:
- Graduate of an Accredited School of Pharmacy
- Licensed as a Pharmacist in the State of Minnesota
- Basic Computer Skills: Word, Excel, and Outlook
