Job Description
1. Perform general maintenance on the facilities at WSU including but not limited to:
- Perform minor mechanical repairs as needed.
- Perform minor carpentry repairs as needed.
- Perform minor masonry repairs as needed.
- Perform minor window repairs as needed.
- Perform minor roof repairs as needed.
- Perform minor welding as needed.
- Perform masonry repairs as needed.
- Assist with moving/relocating offices and equipment as needed.
- Direct students assigned to assist with these responsibilities.
2. Oversee and schedule in house painting projects.Prepare for projects by repairing walls, ceilings and floors as needed.Remove snow and ice from campus streets, parking lots, and sidewalks, and perform grounds work as needed.
- Perform plaster and sheetrock repairs as needed.
- Perform grouting repairs as needed.
- Select proper materials to complete painting requests as needed.
- Maintain campus painting supplies.
- Direct students assigned to assist with these responsibilities.
3. Assist the other trades in repairs and remodeling as needed or directed by supervisor or other lead workers.
Salary Range: $26.37 - $30.35
Minimum Qualifications
- Knowledge of general methods and practices of a variety of trade areas (e.g. mechanics, masonry, welding, electrical, plumbing and carpentry) sufficient to assist licensed trades workers and to repair machinery, tools and facilities in a timely and safe manner.
- Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety measures related to trades work sufficient to safely and efficiently perform the job duties.
- Ability to safely use hand and power hand tools.
- Ability to safely operate and maintain trucks, tractors, and other ground and road maintenance equipment.
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
- Ability to provide work instructions to unskilled helpers.
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks such as lifting, carrying and bending.
- Successfully pass a criminal background check.
Preferred Qualification
- Excellent personal human relations and communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills sufficient to address a variety of situations as they arise.
- 3 Years of experience painting in a commercial related environment
- Completion of a 2 years vocational school related to building maintenance
- Ability to provide lead work direction to others
- Special Engineers license
Physical Requirements:
In order to accomplish the tasks of this position it requires bending, stooping, reaching above shoulder level, crouching, pushing and pulling up to 125 pounds on a regular basis and occasionally more. Climbing ladders, twisting and squatting are required on an occasional basis. This position also requires the ability to frequently lift up to 80 pounds and occasionally lift up to 105 pounds
