Overview
The Cook plays a vital role in the Food Service department, assisting the Food Service Leadership team in meal preparation and ensuring food safety and quality standards are met.
This position reports directly to the Chef de Cuisine.
WinShape Foundation is a Biblically-based Christian non-profit organization dedicated to creating transformational experiences for people at every stage of life through five core ministries: summer camp, foster care, team and leader development, college student discipleship, and marriage enrichment.
Responsibilities
- Preparation and Setup: Sets up prep stations with necessary tools and equipment, ensuring a smooth culinary experience.
- Menu Preparation: Prepares all menu items as directed by Food Service Leadership, following established recipes and guidelines.
- Inventory Management: Organizes coolers, freezers, and dry storage areas, maintaining a clean and efficient inventory system.
- Supply Chain Management: Unloads and puts away all product delivered from food suppliers, ensuring timely and accurate receipt of supplies.
- Cooking Stations: Operates cooking action stations, managing food preparation and presentation.
- Cleanliness and Maintenance: Cleans and maintains food service equipment, adhering to health codes and WinShape Foundation's high standards.
- Sanitation and Waste Management: Removes trash during and at the end of each shift, and sweeps and cleans floors at the end of each shift.
- Kitchen Operations: Assists Food Service Leadership with inventory management, opens and closes the kitchen according to WinShape Foundation's standards, and runs the day-to-day operation of the kitchen with a guest count of 50 and below.
Qualifications
- Culinary Experience: Requires a Culinary diploma or minimum of 1-3 years of kitchen experience.
- Flexibility: Must be flexible and available to meet a varied work schedule, which may include working any shift in a 24-hour/7-day a week operation.
- Health and Safety: Demonstrated knowledge of health codes, possession of a ServSafe certificate, or ability to acquire within 90 days.
- Transportation: Requires a valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record.
- Basic Skills: Basic computer and math skills, able to lift and carry objects weighing up to 25 pounds.
