Job Summary:
Winsome is seeking a dedicated, passionate team member with strong individual design and problem-solving skills with residential structures. This position creates, collaborates, and reviews residential structures for our plan library, spec homes, and select custom projects.
Daily responsibilities include creating Schematic Designs and Construction Documents utilizing CAD, and Revit, reviewing plans and or projects, collaborating with Interior Design, Sales, and Operations teams, and communicating with Clients, Architects, and Engineers. This position may be based in either the Bend office, or the Lake Oswego location.
Responsibilities:
Collaborative Design Development
- Create initial design concepts and sketches that align with Winsome's needs
- Develop detailed architectural plans, floor layouts, and 3D models
- Ensure designs comply with building codes, zoning regulations, and sustainability requirements
- Optimize the layout for efficient use of space and proper flow between rooms
- Address practical considerations like lighting, ventilation, acoustics, and privacy
- Integrate features like storage solutions, accessibility, and future adaptability
- Prepare detailed drawings showing both the appearance and interior structures, including engineering, electrical, and HVAC, for the building project
- Modify new or existing plans as required
- Prepares and revises documentation in various architectural phases including site plans, floor plans, building elevations, building sections, and details
Collaboration with Contractors and Consultants
- Coordinate with engineers, subcontractors, and landscape architects to ensure the design is realized correctly
- Resolve technical issues and provide support during construction
- Review and approve shop drawings and material samples
- Integrate energy-efficient design principles such as passive solar heating, insulation, and energy-efficient windows
Collaboration with the Internal Interior Design Team
- Prepare comprehensive specifications and construction documents
- Create interior elevations in support of interior designs
- Ensure documentation is clear, detailed, and suitable for builders and regulators
- Focus on creating a cohesive design that enhances the home's aesthetic appeal
- Provide necessary elevations, including but not limited to, cabinetry elevations, tile layouts, etc. to interior designers, as needed
Budget and Time Management
- Prepare and maintain cost estimates with the Project Manager to align with the stated budget
- Create realistic timelines for the design and construction phases
- Monitor expenses and time during the project lifecycle
Construction Oversight
- Conduct occasional site visits to monitor construction progress and further improve designs
- Address unforeseen issues during construction and adapt designs as necessary
- Provide guidance to resolve discrepancies between design intent and execution

Job Requirements:
- Minimum 3-5 years of design and documentation of architectural plans and details of residential and commercial projects in a professional setting
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in architecture, professional license desirable
- Proficiency with CAD, Revit; Cadwork, Microsoft software, Google Suite, BuilderTrend, Adobe and BlueBeam
- Must have a valid driver’s license
- Excellent driving record
- Must be able to pass a drug test- Winsome is a drug-free company
