Winstead PC’s Nashville office is seeking a Legal Assistant to join our Construction Practice Group.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide a wide range of secretarial and administrative support to attorneys.
Prepare and edit legal documents and correspondence, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
Manage and monitor calendaring of deadlines and key dates.
Interact with clients and other contacts regarding meetings and scheduling.
Answer telephone calls; provide responses to routine questions and/or route calls to appropriate attorney or staff member.
Research and respond to requests for information from attorneys and clients.
Organize and maintain files and documents, both in physical and electronic formats.
Enter attorney time; review and revise timesheets accurately.
Review, organize, and process client billing in a timely manner.
Coordinate business travel arrangements.
Prepare conflict of interest checks and open new client files.
Prepare engagement letters and conflict waivers.
Process expense reports/reimbursement requests.
Assist assigned attorneys with CLE compliance and business development activities.
Other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:
At least three years of experience as a legal assistant in a law firm is required.
Prior transactional experience is required; the ideal candidate will have experience in construction law.
Advanced proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
Expertise in preparing and managing PDF documents using Adobe Acrobat.
Good working knowledge of document management systems; NetDocs experience a plus.
Superior verbal and written communication skills.
Excellent proofreading skills and attention to detail.
Ability to handle and adjust to competing deadlines and priorities.
Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills with a high degree of professionalism.
A high level of discretion in handling confidential and sensitive information.
Flexibility for overtime when needed.
