JOB SUMMARY: The Payroll Manager (“Manager”) is responsible for implementing and developing Payroll
strategies and initiatives aligned with the firm’s growth and technology and process enhancement objectives.
The Manager will oversee all payroll related functions including policy and procedure development, payroll
system functionality, and day to day administration and management of compensation.

JOB RELATIONSHIPS: The role will report to Controller and interact extensively with senior business
stakeholders across the business (Finance, HR, IT, Attorneys etc.), as well as external vendors and consultants.
The role has one direct report, Senior Payroll Administrator.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: The Payroll Manager is responsible for the following:
o Manage and review periodic exempt and non-exempt employee payroll, reimbursement payroll,
and Form 1099 payroll.
o Research and recommend system upgrades or replacements to provide the most efficiency to
payroll operations.
o Manage the relationship with the external payroll provider (ADP) to ensure that the firm receives
appropriate level of customer service and takes full advantage of the available functionality.
o Manage the upcoming transition of the partner payroll into ADP, and create and maintain a
system for tracking complex partner compensation arrangements.
o Ensure that appropriate documentation and approvals are in place to support compensation.
o Oversee annual Form W-2 preparation and distribution process.
o Work closely with the HR and benefits teams to develop efficient information feeds into payroll
from various benefit provider data sources.
o Collaborate with the HR team to provide reporting from ADP on compensation survey
information, annual cost analysis, etc.
o Keep abreast of the payroll and benefits related systems and products in the law firm industry.
o Audit payroll journals for accuracy.
o Stay informed about federal, state, and local payroll laws, regulations and tax updates
o Ensure that appropriate controls are in place to prevent confidential data distribution errors, and
erroneous and duplicate payments.

o In collaboration with the HR team, help create and administer an efficient overtime tracking and
payment process.
o Review payroll journal entries generated by ADP for accurate G/L coding and posting.
o Communicate and respond to inquiries from vendors, partners, employees, and firm management
pertaining to compensation.
o Assist with annual retirement plan and financial audits as it pertains to payroll.
o Help enhance connectivity between the payroll system and the existing and future accounting
systems (SAP to be converted to Elite 3E).
o Lead registration process for new local and state accounts.
o Supervise the work product and provide training and development to Senior Payroll
Administrator.
o Active membership in a Payroll-related professional organization.
Salary : $150,000 - $165,000
