High School Chemistry Teacher 2025-2026

Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Chemistry Teacher to join our academic team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for educating students in concepts while fostering a stimulating learning environment. This role requires effective communication skills, a strong understanding of physics, and the ability to engage students in both theoretical and practical applications of the subject.

Essential Functions of Classroom Teacher

Provide academically rigorous instruction in subject areas, with a mind to biblical integration

Utilize various teaching strategies and materials which stimulate student learning.

Present material in a well-organized fashion in order to use class time efficiently.

Maintain an orderly classroom utilizing best practices for classroom management.

Familiarization with restorative justice discipline strategies a plus but not required.

Maintain a gradebook and return graded work to students in a timely manner with appropriate feedback.

Maintain prompt hours.

Maintain a neat, clean professional appearance at all times.

Clean and organize classroom at the end of each day by emptying trash and setting outside door

Work with all staff members in a cooperative manner

Attend all staff meetings and keep up to date on developments in the field of Christian Education

Report all problems about children and room management to the Head Master or Principal promptly

Work with parents whenever possible, to promote understanding of growth and development of their child

Contribute to the development of the school and student culture that promotes the vision of Winston Salem Christian School

Must be willing to adhere to the guidelines of the Statement of Faith, Statement of Moral Integrity, and Statement of Lifestyle policies as outlined by the WSCS teacher handbook. (Available Upon Request)

Daily Tasks:

Lesson plans: Each class has daily lesson plans, which are prepared by the teacher and must be submitted electronically in our classroom management system.

Communication: Communicate with parents the expectations for class, including the posting of homework to online portals.

Teachers are expected to follow the outlined school schedule.

Supervision of students outside of classroom time as assigned.

Participate in the development of school and student culture to promote the vision of Winston Salem Christian School.

Minimum Education or Training

Professing a relationship with Jesus Christ, and actively involved in Christ Christ-centered church

Requires a four-year degree along with a teaching certification for the State of North Carolina or the Association of Christian Schools International.

Requires the possession of a valid North Carolina Driver license. Must have a clear criminal background and successfully pass a drug screening.

Proficiency using Microsoft Office suite products including but not limited to Word, PowerPoint, and Excel. Familiarization with Renweb/FACTS educational software is a plus.

Minimum Qualifications and Standards

Physical Requirements:

Must be physically able to operate a variety of machines and equipment including a computer, basic office equipment, and telephone. Tasks involve the ability to exert moderate, though not constant, physical effort, typically involving some combination of climbing and balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching and crawling, and which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling of objects and materials of moderate weight (50-60 pounds).

Language and Verbal Aptitude:

Requires ability to read a variety of policy and procedure manuals. Requires the ability to prepare reports, records, correspondence, etc., with proper format. Requires the ability to speak with and before others with poise, voice control and confidence. Requires the ability of speaking and/or signaling people to convey or exchange information. Includes receiving assignments or direction from supervisor. Requires the ability to record and deliver information, to explain procedures, to follow and give verbal and written instructions. Must be able to communicate effectively and efficiently with co-workers. Requires the ability to talk and hear: (talking: expressing or exchanging words; hearing: perceiving nature of sounds by ear).

Intelligence:

Requires the ability to apply principles of logical thinking to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions; to deal with several abstract and concrete variables; to make independent judgments in absence of supervision; to acquire knowledge of topics related to primary occupation. Must have the ability to comprehend and interpret received information.

Numerical Aptitude:

Requires the ability to add and subtract totals, to multiply and divide, to utilize mathematical formulas, to determine percentages and decimals and to determine time and weight.

Manual Dexterity and Color Discrimination:

Requires the ability to coordinate hands and eyes using office equipment. Requires the ability to handle a variety of items, keyboards, office equipment, control knobs, buttons, switches, etc. Must have moderate levels of eye/hand/foot coordination. Requires the ability to differentiate colors and shades of color.

Interpersonal Temperament:

Requires the ability to deal with people beyond giving and receiving instructions. Must be adaptable to performing under stress when confronted with emergency or unusual situations. The worker may be subject to danger or risk to a slight degree and to tension as a regular, consistent part of the job.

Religious Organization:

The worker will be expected to follow the guidelines of the Statement of Faith, Statement of Moral Integrity, Statement of Lifestyle statement, which are all outlined and accordance to scripture. Worker also agrees to follow the confidentiality guidelines.
