Position Summary
Assistant Women’s Basketball Coach/Recruiting Coordinator
The primary purpose of this position is to serve as the Assistant Women’s Basketball Coach. Responsibilities will include assisting the Head Coach with administrative duties, all facets of recruiting, as well as assisting the program in accordance with the mission, core values, policies, and procedures of the Athletic Department, WSSU, the CIAA, and the NCAA. Duties may include recruiting and retaining top prospective student-athletes; establishing a competitive schedule; coordinating practice planning, skill development, and designing strategies which will prepare the team for competition; mentoring student-athletes; aiding in fundraising and development initiatives; organizing sport camps; and budget management while demonstrating adherence to WSSU, CIAA, and NCAA rules and regulations.

This position will be required to work M-F 8am to 5pm as well as nights and weekends are required.
Department Required Skills

3 years of college basketball coaching experience at Division I or II level.
Bachelor’s Degree required. Master’s preferred.
Serve as an appropriate role model for student-athlete through his/her instructions and actions.
The ability to effectively communicate and build a positive rapport with college level student athletes.
Must be well versed in player development, film breakdown, and opponent scouting experience.
Highly motivated.
Commitment to the University’s core values and strategic plan.
Organizational skills, computer skills are a must, ability to self start, meet deadlines, work without supervision, multi-task, problem solve, and relate and adapt to various personalities and diverse circumstances.
Experience recruiting collegiate level student-athletes.
Knowledge of NCAA bylaws, legislation and processes.
Bachelor’s Degree required. Master’s preferred.
