Whitefish Mountain Resort (Winter Sports, Inc.)
Title: Lift Attendant
Department: Lift Operations Department
Status: Full Time or Part Time Seasonal, Hourly
FLSA: Non-Exempt
Effective Date: July 2023
Job Summary:
The Lift Attendant ensures all guests have valid lift tickets and assists them in safely loading and unloading chair lifts. Responsibilities include maintaining safe conditions around lift terminals, setting up and taking down corrals, and promoting positive guest relations.
Job Relationships:
- Reports to: Lift Managers, Supervisors, and Operator
- Employees Supervised: None
- Interrelationships: Works closely with all Lift Operations department employees, Ski School, Patrol, Guests, and other mountain personnel
Job Specifications:
- Minimum two years of high school, trade school, or equivalent
- One year of experience working with the public/guest relations
- Skill in operating basic machinery
- Ability to provide accurate information and maintain a good attitude during stressful situations
- Ability to speak clearly and communicate thoroughly with customers and co-workers
- Willingness to work overtime, holidays, night skiing shifts, and weekends as requested by the Manager
- Skiing/Snowboarding skills are required for some positions
- Must be at least 18 years of age to operate equipment
Specific Duties:
- Check each guest for proper ticket/season pass using a ticket scanner. Check every ticket/pass every time
- Load/unload passengers to/from chair lift safely and efficiently
- Build and tear down corrals using diagrams according to predicted skier visits
- Direct corral traffic as needed
- Keep corral and terminal area clean and orderly, promoting safety procedures
- Perform snow maintenance on ramps, terminal area, corral, and other areas as needed
- Assist in daily lift inspections
- Promote positive guest relations with riders and co-workers
- Serve as alternate Lift Operator as needed
- Gain a thorough understanding of all aspects of Whitefish Mountain Resort to function as an information source for guests
- Ask questions of supervisors and co-workers for clarification of procedures or knowledge
- Meet the company’s requirements for appearance, attendance, and punctuality
- Wear uniform and name tag daily
Work Environment:
- Able to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally
- Able to work while standing for extended periods up to 8 hours
- Engage in repetitive body motion involving upper body torque during guest loading and snow shoveling
- Ability to work under varying weather conditions, often extreme in nature
Safety & Wellness:
- Support and actively promote the success of the Winter Sports, Inc Health & Safety Process, including participation in ongoing programs
- Follow and comply with OSHA standards as defined by company policy and procedures
- Report any injury and/or unsafe working conditions to the operator, supervisor, or manager ASAP
All team members must be on constant alert for any unsafe conditions and work behaviors. This will involve periodic inspections of work and public areas. Follow-up notification will be done to correct the condition or practice at the earliest possible opportunity.
