POSITION: Retail – Assistant Manager, Outdoor Elements and Blue Ridge Boutique
FLSA: Full Time,Non-Exempt
DEPARTMENT: Retail
REPORTS TO: Manager, Outdoor Elements & Blue Ridge Boutique
SUMMARY: The Assistant Manager will be working directly with the Store Manager on planning, developing, and implementing strategies to increase sales and attract customers. Furthermore, you will be assisting in daily business operations, including inventory, customer service, and merchandising. You will help to supervise and evaluate employee performance, interview and train new team members, and ensure sales goals and objectives are met. As an Assistant Store Manager, your main goal is to ensure activities in both stores are performed smoothly and professionally. Customer satisfaction and resolving customer problems and complaints should be your number one rule. To excel in this position, you should also have amazing communication, organization, leadership, and problem-solving skills. A love for the outdoors and knowledge of outdoor equipment for such activities as skiing, snowboarding, hiking, and biking is desired.

- Greeting, assisting, and selling to guests in a friendly manner
- Assisting Retail Manager with business operations, inventory, and merchandising.
- Managing front-end sales using point-of-sale software
- Creating an inviting atmosphere by maintaining the image and cleanliness of the store
- Stocking and rotating store products
- Helping with supervising, training and teamwork-building of staff
- Helping with reconciliation of ordering, receiving, and invoicing.
- Follow policies and procedures that help to prevent harm to associates, guests and members
- Weekend and Holiday work is required.
- Excel at customer service
- Must enjoy working directly with the general public
- Present a neat and positive image along with a professional appearance
- Is a tactical sales strategist
- Possess problem solving skills
- Possess computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Be innovative and easily adapt to change
- High school diploma OR GED equivalent
- An Associate’s Degree in merchandising or business management is an advantage
- Previous working experience in retail or other customer service environments.
- Must possess a valid, unrestricted Virginia driver’s license.
- Physical demands on the incumbent consist of sitting, standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling; using hands and fingers to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; and lifting and carrying moderately heavy objects up to 50 pounds.
- Incumbent must be able to see and hear in the normal range, with or without correction, and communicate verbally and in written form with great facility and must be able to be understood.
