Job Summary: This position is responsible for providing exceptional service to guests during events and functions at the Institute. This role ensures a welcoming and professional bar experience while maintaining cleanliness, safety, and compliance with all regulations. The Bartender will also support the front of house staff during times of high volume or when there are no bars scheduled.
This position is a full time benefited position and will be posted until filled.
Requirements
Essential Responsibilities:
Beverage Service:
- Prepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages according to standardized recipes.
- Provide excellent customer service by interacting with guests in a friendly, courteous, and professional manner.
- Accurately take and fulfill drink orders, ensuring guest satisfaction.
Event Support:
- Set up and breakdown bar stations for events, including restocking supplies and cleaning equipment.
- Collaborate with event staff to ensure seamless service during conferences, banquets, and other functions.
- Monitor and manage bar inventory during events, notifying the Food and Beverage Manager of low stock or equipment needs.
Compliance and Safety:
- Verify guest identification to ensure legal drinking age compliance.
- Adhere to all state and local alcohol service regulations.
- Follow safety and sanitation procedures to maintain a clean and safe work environment.
Cash and Inventory Handling:
- Process cash and card transactions accurately using the point-of-sale (POS) system.
- Maintain accurate records of sales, inventory usage, and tips.
Competency or position requirements:
- Previous bartending experience in a hospitality, restaurant, or conference center setting.
- Knowledge of beverage recipes, techniques, and bar equipment.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to handle a fast-paced work environment while maintaining attention to detail.
- Positive, patient, team-minded attitude.
- Assist the Front of House waitstaff as needed.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certification in safe alcohol service ( ServSafe Alcohol).
- Experience with point-of-sale (POS) systems.
Physical Factors (environment): Stand for extended periods (up to 10 hours per day)
- Ability to stand for extended periods.
- The ability to lift up to 45 pounds.
- Must be able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by event schedules.

Preferred/Required Education: High School Diploma/GED, Trade or Technical school preferred
