DESCRIPTION
Winthrop & Weinstine is seeking a knowledgeable and driven Paralegal to work in our Commercial Lending Department. We're seeking an individual with strong attention to detail who can prioritize the workload for busy attorneys. The ability to work in a fast-paced environment as part of a close-knit team provides a challenging opportunity and an enjoyable workplace.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS (Including, but not limited to):
- Handle title and survey review and coordinate revisions/finalizing with title company and surveyor.
- Draft initial drafts of loan documents and amendments to loan documents.
- Draft closing instruction letters.
- Review due diligence including Uniform Commercial Code searches, organizational documents and insurance certificates.
- Update/maintain closing checklists and monitor due diligence sites for purposes of pulling/saving the same and updating checklists accordingly.
- Act as a liaison between attorney and client, facilitating communication and transmittal of necessary information.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
COMPETENCIES (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES):
- Ability to make independent and critical decisions regarding exchange of information with client, file management and delegation of responsibilities.
- Skill with interpersonal relationships and ability to effectively interact with all levels of staff and outside contacts.
- Skill in organizing and prioritizing work according to timelines and importance of tasks, and following assignments through to completion.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Ability to work well under pressure with deadlines.
- Ability to effectively handle multiple tasks and frequent interruptions.
QUALIFICATIONS, REQUIRED
- Three years of real estate or lending experience, preferably in a law firm setting or financial institution.
QUALIFICATIONS, PREFERRED
- Bachelor’s degree, paralegal certificate or equivalent work experience in a legal setting.
- Previous experience in the title industry
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Requires use of office equipment, such as computers, phones, and copiers.
- Requires sitting and computer-related activities for extended periods of time.
- Requires occasional lifting up to and exceeding 20 pounds.
SALARY & BENEFITS
Competitive base salary commensurate with experience: $75,000 - $100,000 annually
Posted salary ranges are made in good faith. Winthrop & Weinstine reserves the right to adjust ranges depending on the experience/qualifications of the selected candidate as well as internal and external equity.
