What are the responsibilities and job description for the Quality Control Inspector position at Wipaire Inc?
The Quality Control Inspector works from Engineering drawings, work instructions or other established specifications to determine acceptance or rejection of the articles inspected. Reports inspection results and facilitates the disposition of nonconforming articles.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform inspections of new and in-process parts and products.
- Conduct in-process inspections, selecting jobs by schedule priority and assessing parts against design data, job traveler data, and samples.
- Inspect vendor supplied materials, selecting them by priority and evaluating them against design data.
- Conduct first article inspections.
- Examine items that are non-conforming from inventory.
- Inspect customer returns.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Prepare required documentation and reporting to meet quality system and regulatory requirements.
- Document inspection results in appropriate Wipaire software transactions, vendor inspection reports, and first article reports.
- Filing inspection reports and certificates of conformance properly.
- Making necessary information available on parts.
- Facilitating the disposition of nonconforming articles when failing any parts or materials during the inspection process.
- Initiating corrective actions to quality problems through changes in job travelers and with Engineering Change Requests.
- Supporting Manufacturing and Purchasing departments in resolving quality problems.
Requirements:
- Two to three years' experience in a metal fabrication environment preferred.
- Two-year technical degree preferred.
- Experience in metrology a plus.
- Able to read drawings and other design data to determine key requirements for articles to be inspected.
- Able to read measuring instruments used in part inspections.
- Understand how an integrated ERP system works and how inspection transactions affect other elements of the organization and overall process.
- Able to use logic and reasoning to identify strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
- Demonstrate detail orientation for reading of engineering drawings and requirements on prints.
- Plan, prioritize, coordinate, and manage own work in a fast-paced environment.
- Work unsupervised and solve problems effectively and creatively.
- Display high levels of customer service, responding promptly and thoroughly to inquiries and needs of individuals both internal and external to the organization.
- Understand and maintain confidential nature of customer, organization and employee information, including HIPAA regulations.
- Show professional knowledge, proficiency and initiative in achieving goals and meeting standards.
- Occasionally lift supplies and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Hear, speak and verbally communicate in English language, including following oral and written instructions.
- Stand, squat, reach, kneel, bend, and twist/turn for extended periods of time.
- Perform long hours of work in the shop and hangar, inspecting parts and aircraft.
- Apply manual dexterity and visual acuity for computer keyboarding and office equipment use.
- Review detailed reports and information.
- Move around the shop and office area repeatedly throughout the day.
