What are the responsibilities and job description for the Field Service Technician position at Wireless Maritime Services LLC?
We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Field Technician to join our onsite shipboard operations team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for installation of cellular equipment and DAS equipment to provide service to cruise ships throughout the world. This will include but not be limited to new installations, upgrades, repairs and maintenance and decommissioning of equipment. You will work rack building (radios, routers and switches, servers, RF and DAS), will need to understand international travel policies and be able to travel anywhere in the world and be gone for up to 2 months at a time.

Responsibilities:
- Installing, upgrading, repairing, and troubleshooting cellular and DAS equipment on cruise and cargo vessels throughout the world
- Working onboard, embarkation and disembarkation of cruise and cargo ships
- Onboard training of our system with the ship’s personnel
- Configuring hardware and testing of equipment and system after installation
- Rack and stack and cable management of routers, switches, radios, servers, PDUs, UPS, and DAS equipment
- Performing routine maintenance on technology equipment
- Testing equipment to troubleshoot the issues
- RF Propagation testing throughout vessel
- Documenting installation and repairs
- Create formal documentation for customers
- Maintaining all tools and equipment used during service calls
- Teaching customers how to use the equipment properly
- Managing the stock of replacement parts and equipment
- Reporting and communicating with multiple ship representatives/high ranking officers, vendors, and service providers
Qualifications:
- Local to South Florida
- Ability to walk and stand for long periods of time
- Ability to Lift and carry up to 50lbs
- Ability to travel in short notice
- Self-Starter with the ability to work independently or with a team and lead projects with multiple vendors
- Maintain tight project timelines by having strong problem-solving skills
- Strong customer service skills
- Written and verbal communication skills to understand issues customers have and to explain technical information to customers in clear terms.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Visio
- Clear understanding of basic networking configurations.
- Understanding of RF, DAS propagation, and testing of the networks and RF propagation
- Technicians will need an understanding of international traveling and obtaining Visas when required
- Ability to travel with the tools of the trade and flexible to travel with last-minute notice for several weeks at a time
- Problem-solving skills to diagnose problems with malfunctioning equipment
- Time-management skills to handle appointments efficiently and stay on schedule
- Attention to detail to spot issues and complete accurate reports about the repairs
- Organizational skills to keep tools and paperwork organized while in the field
- Computer and technical skills to understand the equipment fully
