Technical Sales Manager - Concrete
The Technical Sales Manager, based in Tennessee, will support the internal sales team, dealers, and customers to provide solutions utilizing Wirtgen Slipform paving equipment while establishing him/herself as the product expert by demonstrating extensive product knowledge, developing key relationships with factory or industry experts and creating a value-add partnership with dealers and customers in the U.S. and Canada.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide technical sales assistance to the dealer and sales team. Product knowledge is essential as the candidate will be required to specify, design and assist in recommending the required equipment for the customer.
- Work closely with district sales managers in developing and training the dealer network within the specified sales territory. The candidate should be comfortable in presenting to large groups and show confidence and knowledge when educating the existing or new sales team
- Work as a product expert with full comprehensive understanding of machine applications.
- Compiles lists of prospective customers for use as sales leads, based on information from newspapers, business directories, industry ads, trade shows, internet web sites, and other sources.
- Travels through assigned territory to dealer locations, prospective and existing customers with intent of increasing sales opportunities.
- Continually apprise management and inside sales team of market, technological, and competitive developments
- Attend various industry shows and events to support the brand and products
- Travel 70% (monthly average) to visit customers with area managers, dealer salespersons and perform product training; may include international travel
- Perform other related responsibilities for Slipform Paving Products
- Ability to acquire and retain complex technical concepts while effectively delivering in a comprehensible manner
- Strong communication skills with diverse audience and organizational levels
- Effectively deliver training content in formal and informal settings
- Prioritize competing job assignments and tasks while ensuring proactive communication with stakeholders
- Continually seeks opportunities for further self-development in product knowledge and product applications
- Identifies problems and creates solutions in a timely, effective manner
- Analyzes and exercises sound judgement in challenging situations absent of specific guidance
- Proficient in Microsoft Office suite and general computer skills.
- Associate degree or higher (Bachelor’s degree preferred) and/or experience in road construction, pavement recycling or soil stabilization; or combination of education and experience
