JOB SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the Production Supervisor, the Blow Molding Lead Technician operates automated high speed floor machines which blow finished bottles from preforms.
JOB DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Monitor the Blow Molder to ensure a continuous supply of bottles to the filler.
- Monitor the bottle quality through the required quality testing, making process changes to ensure the highest quality bottle is blown, complete and accurate documentation of all testing.
- Stage and change out preform gaylords on the preform feed system as needed.
- Complete machine changeovers as dictated by the production schedule.
- Monitor the Pressco Inspection System for quality trends that may require attention.
- Monitor the Utility Equipment for alarms or needed preventative maintenance.
- Complete all required paperwork at the end of each run while maintaining traceability paperwork for the preforms used.
- Work with the Bottle Line Lead Person or Bottle Line Filler Operator for accurate bottle cutoffs.
- Perform preventative maintenance and minor repairs on machines as needed.
- Follow all safety policies.
- Follow all Food Safety and GMP Policies.
- Follow all clean-up procedures on the machines and work areas.
- Follow the production schedule with accuracy.
- Notify the Production Supervisor of any quality or Food Safety concerns.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Requires ability to operate a computer terminal and machine HMI's (Human Medium Interfaces).
Requires good mathematics skills and good verbal and written communications skills. Must be able to follow written and verbal instructions. Requires fine manipulation to operate computers, HMI touch screens, and quality lab testing equipment. Must be able to work under minimum supervision.

- Required to lift, remove and replace covers from preform gaylords at a height of 4 feet.
- Required to dump waste preform and bottle collection bins, weigh up to 25 lbs. and need to be lifted to a height of 4 feet.
- Required to carry a case of empty bottles 40 feet, weight of less than 5 lbs., and lifted to a height of 4 feet.

Describe: The machines are mechanical devices powered by electricity. Care should be taken so hands or other body parts are not inserted into a moving machine. Electrical panels will remain locked unless maintenance personnel are present. Pneumatic devices must be bled of air pressure prior to working on them.
