JOB SUMMARY:
Under direct supervision of the Quality Assurance Supervisor, the QA Lead person provides support to staff by performing a variety of both complex and routine administrative and analytical duties. These duties range from administrative-type tasks such as attending meetings and maintaining program files to more complex analytical-type tasks such as collecting, compiling, and analyzing data for various program documents and designing and maintaining spreadsheets. This individual maintains quality of incoming and outgoing raw materials, product and supplies. Is involved in the Mock Recall, Food Safety & Food Defense Teams. The Lead Person ranks tasks in order of importance and impending deadlines and handles several tasks simultaneously. The individual must develop a working knowledge of corporate practices and procedures and will participate in internal and external facility audits. This individual will serve as a backup to the QA Supervisor and department to cover absences and heavy workloads as needed. This position has a 2-year minimal placement service agreement from the employee.
JOB DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Maintain proper amounts of various ingredient raw materials for production needs within quality specifications.
- Ensure preparation of product/s in a timely manner within the given specifications.
- Maintains documentation to monitor variance of syrup mix to production packages (Variance Sheet)
- Coordinates and insure sanitization/calibration of equipment within given specifications and allotted time.
- Maintain and/or coordinate compliance of documentation within this department and assist with data as needed in
other areas of the facility.
- Communication with other lead persons and supervisors for coordination of duty needs.
- Cover duties of the Q.A. Supervisor during absences, time off, or other times that offsite requirements mandate.
- Involved in Continuous Improvement of the facility.
- Maintain a very flexible work schedule to accommodate employee contact on other shifts.
QUALIFICATIONS:
High School Diploma and equivalent combination of education & experience that would provide the above-noted knowledge, skill, and ability.
Must have strong leadership skills and be able to follow management lead to reach company goals.
Experience using time management skills such as prioritizing/organizing and tracking details and meeting deadlines of multiple projects with varying completion dates.
Demonstrated ability to quickly grasp new concepts, rules, and processes when read or explained, and to synthesize the information into step-by-step procedures. Basic math, writing, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Excellent listening, verbal and written communication skills, including spelling, grammar, and formatting skills. Highly attentive to detail and accuracy. Solid interpersonal skills, ability to interact with individuals at multiple levels of the organization.
Have a good working knowledge of Quality Assurance Department policies and procedures and be able to work independently within that department.
Must be able to operate standard office equipment such as computer, copier, printer, and fax.
Certifications to include HACCP and PCQI for Food Safety.

Essential Job Functions (The fundamental job duties):
- Order, receive, and inventory various raw materials, equipment, and supplies for department needs.
- Ensure proper compliance and documentation for all Parent Company standards.
- Ensure blending work order process is verified, compliant and closed.
- Monitor and / or assist with all microbial testing and documentation.
- Maintain & schedule lab equipment calibration requirements.
- Collect and submit various water & syrup samples for required testing
- Maintain Sensory in-plant Proficiency Validation Exercise
- Utilize laboratory test equipment and apparatus to perform product quality tests, inspect raw material, and to perform bacteriology and analytical testing.
- Maintain files and test results; record corrective procedures, control reports and supporting data in accordance with prescribed procedures.
- Reviews and verifies food safety document records.
- Revises and updates Document Control procedures and forms as needed and updates to Document Control Index.
- Assures any updated procedures and forms are implemented through communication and employee training as needed.
- Participate in external & internal facility audits, to include AIBI, FSSC, Pepsi QAS, FDA, mock FDA, mock Recall, Food Safety Mandate and any others.
- Other duties related to the quality department as assigned.
